Excellent synopsis of these two very strong sets. There's not much to add. Representing the very best of early '69, I'm not sure why these performances seem to garner so little attention here. Though I'd hesitate to call these true classics, this date has been firmly entrenched in my top-ten for 1969 for a while.

Though the late show gets all the accolades, the short early set is excellent as well. I go to these two sets much more frequently than any other performances from early '69.

This performance would certainly benefit from a sonic upgrade such as the recent treatment given the Dream Bowl shows from a couple of weeks later. Hint, hint...

we can only hope for that...most of these feb. shows could hugely benfit from an upgrade. i often dream of what it would be like to hear some of them in the Fillmore West Box Set quality!
